Which option works best for you?
Do you need a custom build for your trade show or is renting a better option? The answer depends on a number of factors, including your budget, the number of shows you’ll be attending, and your customization requirements.
Own
If you need a custom solution and/or have a firm, long-term event schedule, owning your exhibit is your best option. Creating a brand immersive experience is a very effective tool in establishing a meaningful brand presence. Designing an exhibit that distinctly represents your brand can only be accomplished by designing and building your own exhibit.
Pros: You can have it built exactly the way you want it. The only obstacles are your budget and show regulations.
Cons: Upfront costs can be higher than renting, and you won’t be able to change the look of the exhibit until you decide to build a new one. Due to repeated use, refurbishing will be necessary and could include repairing crates and re-laminating panels. Storage costs are a factor when owning exhibit properties.
Rent
If cash flow is an issue and/or you have inconsistent event schedule, renting may be the way to go.
Pros: Renting gives you tremendous flexibility; modular construction and multiple graphic options make it possible to change the look and feel of your exhibit from show to show. And renting is significantly less expensive than buying – you’ll save on up-front hardware and construction costs.
Cons: Rentals have much more limited customization options, since they need to be able to meet the needs of multiple clients. And if you have a lot of shows scheduled over a short amount of time (a year or two), rental costs can add up over time and end up being more expensive in the long term than a custom build.
The best option for you
The best choice for your company is the one that fits your needs most closely. The most important factor is ensuring that your marketing objectives are met through effective design. Even once your exhibit is designed and built, your staff must play an integral role in creating a fabulous and educational experience for customers that visit your exhibit environment.
